 Wanted to go to Times Square for this challenge, but the basic editing limitations made me think otherwise since it's so tough to shoot there. I decided to go with this, probably won't score past 5, but I like the area, the entire place is a old Navy museam. Definitely out of the box, more of a landscape shot, but hey.

PRE-shot: This was my tenth attempt to take this shot, had trouble with the pedestrians because they were coming out blurry. Night street shots are tough, a couple boosts in ISO fixed this, luckily didnt over expose the lights.

POST PROCESS: Just Curves/Contrast combo.

I actually submitted this purposely, to see if it fit into the theme, I knew it didn't, but thought It possibly be accepted...oh well, whatta ya gonna do.

Critique Club

First, I enjoyed your portfolio, plenty of good work. Particularly this!

FIRST IMPRESSION:
Does not grab, as you said, bit out of the box for what I was expecting for street.

COMPOSITION:
Excellent. The right building is positioned well. The inclusion of the distant buildings buried in dark hurts IMO.

TECHNICAL:
I really like the way you capture the detailed lighting of the main building. Highlights it's texture. Drawback...the bright lights far off on the leading lines. Visual competition!

You know, when I sit here looking through the photograph, I'm drawn to the architecture of the main building, and for that reason it does not feel *street*. But you knew that based on your comments in the description. :)

Too far away to show the people and what they are doing. I like the light on the building to the right.

Looks like a set of miniatures.... I really like the color balance and how it doesn't quite seem like night. Would love to see this image at a larger scale. Gonna go with a 9 GL
