Challenge: From Above II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II
Location: SeaWorld, San Diego
Date: Jul 3, 2009
Aperture: F 6.3
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/320
Date Uploaded: Jul 6, 2009

Shot at "Flamingo Cove" at San Diego's SeaWorld, looking down in the pond.
PP:
- little crop
- saturation
- combination of curves/levels/contrast...quite a bit actually...especially on the lower spectrum of the histogram to make water look darker/black. luckily it was a little dark to start with. This in turn, increased the contrast a more than i prefer but i cannot do anything about that in basic editing.
- little blurring for the "soft" feel in feathers
- resize
- usm with small radius to bring out details in neck, beak, and eye.

Post-Challenge:
Looking at the point distribution, looks like many people gave me low-DNMC votes (didn't considered this "from above" shot). This is so unfair. oh well!!!

I took this photo looking down in a pond where the bird was standing. Camera was nearly 90degrees pointing downwards.
The leg that you see on the back is the top of the flamingo's leg that extends horizontally. Second/bottom half of the leg (not in the photo) goes vertically down.
Since the Sun was low, I was lucky to have most light hitting the bird. Hence, I was able to get the black BG.

Thank you all for kind comments and votes. :)

Splendid shot all around! Eh those DNMC votes. You can easily see the top back of the bird, this was shot really straight down. Don't think I've ever seen a flamingo shot from this angle before. It creates a beautiful curve with its neck.

Their "rubbery" necks just amazine me. I like how he fills the frame.
