Hung my old Eagle Scout medal from a black string, set up a black background a few feet away, set up two lights (1 flash and 1 desk light) and took the shot (actually about 40 shots trying to get my hand positioned and parrallel.)

Photoshop was nothing special and no neat image this week.

The disconnect between the hand and "floating" medal is strange to me, and the only real problem I see with this shot. In retrospect, you probably DO need the medal, if only to keep the "breeze-through voters" from thinking that you are just showing a literal three with the fingers. Perhaps if you showed a scout uniform in the background or simply held the medal with your thumb, the two elements would tie together better. I still think exposure and color were perfect, and agree with scrum8 that the BSA might find a good use for this photo. ;-)

Not sure you needed the medal- the title is plenty, and the color of the medal draws attention away from the three fingers. I know you were adding interest, but the medal floating in space just seems like an awkward disconnect to me. Perfect color & focus, though.

Hey, I'm also an Eagle scout! Cool. I like the dramatic lighting here, and the clarity of the shot overall. 8

Exceptional photo! Excellent clarity, crispness, and composition. You should submit this to the BSA for possible use in brochures.

very nicely executed... the idea is a good one for the challenge also. This photo may have some room for improvement in the composition by cropping it a little tighter on the left and right. The empty space isn't really adding anything extra to the image.

As a scout I love this photo...but the lighting on the metal could be better

What a great idea! I hope it's not too subtle for this crowd, many peopel might not get it. Plus, very good all-around lighting.
