 The Image: Shot this for the PROMOTE YOUR ZOO Challenge were I got a Red for another shot. I was going to use this one initially, but thought I would save it for the FS. It was the end of the day, and there were yawns all round. This was one, but it looks like he is having a good laugh.

The Edit:
Crop - Duplicate layer - multiply mode with some masking, did it again. Then did a lens blur filter and masked to get the softer edges. Vibrance adjustment layer, sharpen adjustment layer. Some levels as well. Did the duplicate layer - multiply mode again and that really darkened things up, so I masked a bit. Did a desaturated layer with a mask, to make the bg less green. Some d and b and selective sharpening...a vibrance adjustment layer and a saturation adjustment layer. I like the result. I am of two minds about the border...

Well, it's doing better than I thought! I agree with many that the tongue might be a little too sharp and purple, but I like the punchiness. I predict a top 20 finish now. Hopefully.

Again with the fantastic lion shot, I wish I could come away from the Melbourne zoo with something half as good as this! Excellent work.

How funny is it that someone else had the same idea, but with a housecat?! Looks like he's all ready for a dental exam ;-) Tons of detail here. Some of the whites on him are tinted cyan; I'd desaturate them, and maybe give him a virtual tooth cleaning to really make them stand out.

Would have been great if you had toned down the magenta , cyan saturation. The colors on the mane are just fine. Excellent DOF & Focus. 7

Awesome capture! The detain on the tongue is a bit distracting for me... if it was unsharpened just a bit it would be PERFECTION.
