 First things first this is not an original idea at all. Wanted to replicate a fantastic shot by John Brackenbury in his book titled "In the blink of an eye".

The Archimedes Principle aka bouyancy : upward force is equal to the amount of water being displaced.

I don't know how John executed the shot , but I had a really tough time creating the shot.
- 1st time I filled a small plastic tank with water about 3/4 way to the brim.
Used my right hand to hold the bulb down , left hand on the remote shutter
release. This is a bad way as I lifted my hand up (fast) to release the bulb ,
water was splashing everywhere. OK this doesn't work (there must be a
better way)
- 2nd time , filled the tank with water about 1/2 way this time. Instead of
using my hand , this time I used a large diameter straw to hold the bulb
down. Ahh! this time the splashes were minimal.

Took about 60 shots (I really don't have that much patience) and this was the
best one. I really like it as I can really see the water film still coating the bulb
while the bulb is shooting upwards breaking the water surface. oh! and the bulb really ascends at an incredible speed. Really cool.

I really want to share this shot and I checked all the lightbulb shots on DPC , there is NOT one shot that is like this one !!!!!. I went through at least 800 shots!! Taken separately they may be a cliche , but together & with this action , looks like it is a first. Woohoo !!!!

Can't say that I've seen it before, though I'm a little tired of light bulbs, it is a different take on it. However, if you would have had a lit light bulb in water...

I've seen this a lot on here, but I'm not sure with a light bulb so I will consider your score once I investigate a little more. Aside from the that, the color and focus is very good.

A fine example of why I'm not voting. Neither a light bulb or water are new (in fact, both could be deemed cliche) and whilst I've not seen a lightbulb dropped in water it has been done in milk (granted only once to my knowledge). for me the idea is cliche and the use of a lightbulb other than fruit etc doesn't make this truly unique for me.

That said I do like the shot and think its very dpc friendly so hope it does well for you.

Nice picture!! Maybe a crop on the waterline (that would be a different approach, but giver more attention to the beautiful water surrounding the lamp)
