This shot was taken at Byrd Park. It's roughly about 0.8 miles from my house. It has a total of 3 lakes with more birds than you can imagen. Go go bread feeders. About a year ago, they brought in Border Collies to herd the Geese and other Ducks back onto the Island to help reduce the Geese poop around the park. Because people don't have enough to complain about. =P

When I took this, wishing I had dropped the frame down to put the Geese in a better composition. But alas, didn't have the time to think. Was just hope for the best.

They were orginally just sitting there. I was setting up for a pic of the Church itself when they took flight. Seems as though, they give it a better feeling. Any thoughts?

First off - many many thanks for the great comments. They have been very helpful!

Waddy - last night I was looking over the photo last night and thought to myself if I had cut that house out on the right, it might have made the composition better. Thanks for your comment because you're right on the money with that imo.

Try cropping the building on the right edge out, then take about that much off the top, and the subjects will all be a little more up front in the shot. Sharpness is good with that lens and the shutter speed/aperture combo that you used.

A really good capture. I think haviong the geese in the photo helps the overall image. Without them it would have been a picture of a church by the water, but they add that extra little bit to make it stand out from the rest.
Yes, dropping the frame slightly would have given a better composition, but there is usually only one chance to get this, and often the composition comes and what it is. Birds unfortunately do not obey commands to move into the right spot.
Colours are good, maybe a little extra saturation on the red channel to make the church stand out just a little more may help, but a good image made better by the presance of the bords.

Charming church, nestled in the trees and overlooking the water. I love the geese, and how appropriate they are for for Byrd Park lol.

How pretty! I love to look at old churches and imagine the history there. The goose butts add depth and dynamics to the image. Great post!
