Attempting to mimic the face off style photos prior to boxing matches (but with soda cans). Shot in a dark room on a glass table. Light pointed towards the ground so as not to get too much harsh light on the cans themselves. Had to darken the photo a bit to completely black out the wall/door behind the cans. Unsharp mask to sharpen the water droplets and product logos. Unfortunately the reflection is not super sharp since the light rays bent going through the thick glass tabletop.

greetings from the critique club!

i think this is a good idea for the challenge. what killed you here is lighting.

because you're dividing the user's attention to two subjects, you needed to have two light sources that made each subject pop. like, for instance, if you had a boxing ring kind of feel, a spot on each can separated by some black space would have done it. if you were going for a head-to-head kind of thing, you could light it with one really tight light that showed parts of each can basically posed against each other.

in an image this dark, i don't think the reflections would have had any impact. it seemed like you were investing a lot in that effect when it really seems incidental.

good luck in future challenges!

Pretty dark, but I'm sure that's already been mentioned.

LOL - they sure are rival companies! I wish the photo was a little brighter, but I do like how you captured the reflection. Good job!

The idea is great, but I don't know you made it too dark

IMO, better lighting would have improved this pic. Its very dark on my screen. But I like the concept.

I like the idea, but I think some better lighting could bring this out of the woodwork more.

This photo is too dark, though the water on the cans is a nice effect.

This is a really good take on the challenge and one that hadn't crossed my mind before.
