 I went out before sunrise on my new stand-up paddleboard (a gift from the distributor that I shoot their products for). I stopped here and stabbed my tripod into the bottom and tried to catch some lightning in the background but the lighting was not frequent enough and was too far away.

I used a circular polarizer to allow the sea floor to show through the reflection and a .9 graduated neutral density filter (hard edge) to better expose the sky.

I've taken my cameras on my kayak numerous times, but this was only the second time I've taken a camera with me on my new stand-up paddleboard. The difference is almost the same as between sitting and standing in a kayak and I almost tipped the whole thing over when I tried to flatten some sea foam that might have been a distraction in my shots.

I keep my camera equipment in drybags inside a boat bag that sits on the deck of the paddleboard between my feet. When I get where I want to get some shots I open the boat bag and then the dry bag containing the camera. When I almost flipped the paddleboard I had the bags open because I was between shots. Luckily I was able to jump off of the paddleboard without tipping the board or getting anything soaked with salt water. Whew!!!

I can't even guess what score this might get because my judgement has been waaaaay off lately when it comes to challenges. I'd like to see it at 6.5+ and start getting my average to head back where it was before the last several challenges.

that little encroachment on the right is a nuisance - never mind you can clone it out after the challenge and in the meantime we'll just pretend it isn't there - 8
