I once worked for a person whose attitude towards staff was definitely, 'Me boss, you s**t', so I've already considered sending them a full-size print to put up in her barn!
I had way too much fun making this shot. Getting the b/g was the hardest, wanted scene to look black and bleak, yet well-lit enough to show off the 'blood' and whip. Blood recipe is cornstarch, red food colouring, soya sauce and generic grape drink crystals. Made too heavy a texture for drippy blood, but great for coagulating blood... muwahahaa....
Font is a great built-in one called Aristocrat; I wanted one all swoopy and foofy to help drive home the message. Seeing that whips are often associated with the aristocracy, and that they often beat horses and servants, seemed to make it the perfect font for my twisted little mind :-)
The saying is one I got from a Kathy Reichs novel, where her character, Tempe Brennan, sees that slogan on a bumper sticker whilst stuck in a traffic jam. Though Tempe finds in initially amusing, she soon gets annoyed by it.
