This image was blasted for some technical issues that simply were inaccurate perceptions of the subject. These are crackled mercury glass balls, which do not have perfectly round exteriors and have fractured-looking surfaces. The image has not been overprocessed or over-sharpened. It received a small sharepn after resizing and crop, nothing more. I found these balls to be very interesting artistically and especially loved the glow effect created when placing a penlight behind them for lighting. I am sorry it does not appear that the viewers enjoyed my image. I think it is beautiful, original, and interesting.

Well I like it quite a bit. What are technicals anyway??

Here is a thread on this site that discussed "technicals" that I found interesting and motivating --> Technically imperfect...

That is an original image, and I love the warm glowing light.

Far from being an artistic success, this image has several technical issues that needed to be addressed. Besides the over done white bloom, the edges of the ball are squared off - not smooth and round as would normally be expected. It also appears to be over sharpened. Both of these issues might be due to the available lighting or lighting technique used. From an artistic standpoint, there is too much blank space contrasting directly with the over done whites and odd color of the ball. A little less exposure and more lighting control would have been a significant improvement.

i love this picture for two reasons, the first it shares with many others in this challenge in that it is very well taken, the second is a much greater compliment : its not a dandelion, a sunset, a bird, a dpc friendly object. i really hope this does well. 9 from me
