oversharpened in my opinion. The deer's hair looks bristly and almost "crusty" for lack of a better term.

The eyes of the deer are definitely engaged with the camera however and because of this there is a strong connection to the viewer. Excellent DOF and good focus on the eyes.

A good solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. A good entry into the challenge.
