Challenge: Multiple Light Sources (Basic Editing I) Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro Location: Hong Kong Date: May 23, 2004 Aperture: F4 ISO: 200 Shutter: 1/3 second Date Uploaded: May 23, 2004

Three light sources, both lights found around the house. One desklamp (newspaper used to make it a spotlight, toilet paper used to diffuse it a little) and one regular bedlamp (white sheet used to diffuse it, several running jackets used to direct it), and a flashlight, diffused the same way.
Note: I understand that the hotspots are bad, but I don't know how to fix them under basic editing.
Photoshop was levels, cropping, image size, and one USM step. Neat Imaged at end.
Sunglasses and reflections are intentional. Unclear detail on left shoulder also intentional, as I'd like some comments on whether that helps or hurts.
Also, Given lights I had, I couldn't figure out how to control the highlights on the digeroo. Any advice would be helpful. |

Very nice portrait. I never saw an instrument like that before (looks like a giant, aboriginal pool cue). The use of multiple light sources is clearly evident, though not a primary aspect of the image (to me, at least). Once again, you obviously know your stuff when it comes to exposure and color. The highlights and shoulder don't bother me at all, and I like the radiant streaks in the background. I would have scored this about a 7 (technically outstanding, but the subject doesn't excite me personally). |

I really like this shot. The lighting definitely enhances the picture and is pretty obviously coming from multiple sources. I like the large DOF on this picture as well. The cropping and framing are well conceived. |

nice didgeradoo. good shot. i like your black background. i think a different shirt might work a little better. the black kind of get's lost. a colored shirt or white or something might make it really "pop", although the lighting does help it. overall, pretty good. oh... the barefeet are fitting and a nice touch. |

I can see at least two sources of light, but I wouldn't say they are a key factor in the composition. Better then most though. |

This is a near perfect portrait. I love the sharp focus throughout the whole portrait and the lighting is great. |
