 One of my favorite areas of the sky to photograph, the "Antares Jewel Box", so called for the array of colors so prevalent in this area. The most unusual part of this image is the orange reflection nebula, easily picked up in long exposure photography but pretty much impossible to see with the naked eye. This star that lights up the nebula, antares, is the bright yellow-orange summer star low in the southern horizon in the constellation scorpio, the blue triple star to the left is rho ophichus, a beautiful site to behold in binoculars. Up above antares is the star cluster m4. This image is a composite of 10 5 minute exposures with my 200mm f/4 canon lens tracked with a standard losmandy gm-8.

Last night, I saw the new Star Trek movie and I was thinking of your photography! This photo is quite astounding and holds a never ending fascination with just how incredible, breathtaking (and dangerous!) our universe can be! I wish so much I could take a photo like this. You must have the patience of a saint to do it!

Not really a fan of the border. I think that borders need to be very simple as they tend to draw your eye away from the image. There purpose, in my opinion is to help "contain" the image.

That aside, incredible capture and I am in awe of the time and effort it probably took to get this image.

Astrophotography is always appreciated. A solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it has significant impact being richly colored with excellant detail. A perfect demonstration of the power of properly controlled light and focus. Well done.
