Greetings from the Critique Club!
Initial impression: Yikes, if that is only the base of a lilypad, I dread to see what the top looks like. Quite incredible with all the little spiky things inside the cells.
Technical: Pov and pp good; dof a little soft in lower right area. Composition risks being a little busy, there is no obvious focal point. The darkness in the top part seems to weigh the shot down a little.
Artistic: Fairly good shot, contrast and colours need a little punching up.
FWIW: If this were my shot I would have cropped out the entire top half of the shot and zoomed in on the diagonal line going almost perfectly from bottom-left to top-right corner. I may have also done, after contrast and saturation, a pass with a red filter to bring out the red blossom(?) in lower right, then perhaps done usm 1x and sharpen edges 1x, just to enhance the spikiness.
Good concept and execution, just needs a little work. Good work!
Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Could very well be a cheesy monster from a B scifi movie. It certainly would be scary if the lighting were turned down a little to create a darker effect. A worthy entry into the challenge. |
