The subject, for me, just doesn't "pop" but everyone's definition of "pop" is different. From the score I received in this challenge I may not be the one to tell you what's wrong with your's but for me personally I think color would have made this shot better. I think the lights reflecting off the side of the train are distracting and really shine too much in the B&W image. Very distracting to the eye. From what I am starting to learn on this site is that I think their are a ton of "quick" voters and if you can't make a voter stop on your photo for more than 2 seconds your bound to stay in 5 territory. |

We are spoiled rotten these days.
A technically fine photo of a fine subject just doesn't do it anymore.
We get to see sooooooo many of those, that we need something special and different to make us look twice and vote higher.
There is nothing wrong with your photo at all, it just lacks that something extra. |

Taking into consideration what type of photography wins on this site this is a photo not "worth" remembering. It doesn't stand out. It's just a picture of a train standing. As others have mentioned, crisp, clear and good composition but very interesting. "Anyone" could have taken the shot if you know what I mean. |
I'd have to agree here. Sometimes the technicals of the pic can be done well, but if the subject doesn't jump out and bite you, the score will reflect that. |

I agree w/ this comment (saw your request thread). Its just nothing special. Is it in focus, yes. Exposed correctly, yes. Does it get me any other response... not really. I probably would have given it a 5. Maybe cranking up the contrast. Perhaps a wide angle view taken from lower and closer to the train to exaggerate its size. Maybe taken at sunsets so there is detail or clouds in the sky. Try it again if you can on a different day. Go an hour before sunset and see how many different pictures you can take--maybe you'll find a winner. I struggle with subjects like these myself--its tough to make the mundane and normal interesting. |

I gave it a five. While I liked the POV I felt the subject blended into the background too much. |

Epic. Something about this feel soooo much grander than any other pic I've seen in this challenge so far. I think it's a combination of excellent framing and composition and the man looking soooo little down further away. Fantastic. |

Excellant conversion to black and white - the highlights are just on the edge of being excessive. Crisp and sharp which is a major plus. The little details like the engineer in the cab and conductor are also a major plus. Lots of details, good angle which could have been a little higher, but it fine as it is. The author took time to do the best job in difficult lighting. This should be a top ten entry and a possible ribbon contender. Very well done. |

Good perspective - gives the impression of mass, power and strength. |
