Unfinished (Coloring the Canvas)

Stepped outside the box and away from doing a shot of pencils or crayons by themselves, and went more to what they can do as far as applying color to a canvas. Why unfinished, no color has been applied to the water after light room toning. Fired the shutter from a remote under the pallet, right hand extended over the top of the camera.

For those that thought this was two shots, or a seperate canvas as the background, the original and notes should put you at rest.

Even if this was a "picture" in the background it would not "skirt" the line on existing artwork. The addition of the additional objects...hand, pencils...would have made this 100% legal.

Thanks for the notes and the original shot. Very good PP work, but seeing the original I can tell how much work you did with it. I'm surprised nobody called for validation.

what an amazing edit of the landscape, nice work. I think some dinged you for thinking it was pre-existing artwork. Looks better then some of the others above you.

Pretty good concept. I would have really been sold on this if the right hand was holding the pencil like a pencil and not a brush.

Incredibly clever. I can't tell if the scene is fake or not but it really does appear as tho the hand is reaching into the picture. 9

The pencil holding in hand looks too in unnatural position. I know why you done that but I am saying what I am seeing :)

Only thing is the hand position of the artist is atypical.

cool idea, but the execution doesn't really work for me. i think the saturation is a bit too high in the pencils and the foliage by your pinky. the sky is beautiful though, and i'd love to see the scene without your hands in it :)

Hehe. well done. At first glance I thought the hand pallette at the bottom left wa s aperson in a wooden heart suit(mascot). Don't ask.

Where's Bob Ross when you need him.

I like the POV concept but I don't see a strong tie between the materials and the finished image. The pallet and pencils in the ready are too little of the frame, the hand holding the pencil doesn't make me think that hand is busy working to detail the sunset scene. I think this is a killer concept, but a bit more of a connection between media , artist and finished image are needed.

Nice work. The only small thing bothering me a little is that noisy area on his right hand. still giving you a high number and think that this one will be in topp10

A very creative look at colored pencils - the image meets the subject matter dead on with subtle, yet detailed effect. A terrific demonstration of the creative process in meeting the challenge in a very unusual way. Should be a sure bet to win a ribbon or place high as a top twenty image. A couple of minor detail problems not worth mentioning because they don't appear until you really get a critical eye and examine the image closely. Well done.
