Assembled from colored pencils, tape, rubber band, and a picture of a flattened-out Cheyenne child's tipi which I found on the internet, printed on a laser, and cut out.

FWIW, Isaac helped me pick out which version to use (see below for links to alternate edits).

-Handheld, Tv mode
-Open aperture to create shallow DOF and blur out background
-Noise-reduction with PictureCooler
-Dodged/cloned a couple of blurry seams and dents in the background wall
-RGB Curve
-Made masks for BG and subject areas
-RGB and Blue Curves to BG through mask
-RGB Curve to tipi and pencils through mask
-RGB Curve to tipi through mask
-Convert most the BG/tipi to duotone/sepiatone through mask
-Resize
-USM at 88%/0.8 dia/TH = 5
-Crop a little (mostly from left and top) to save file size
-SaveAs JPEG at quality 9/10 = 177KB

I like the idea; the pencils don't look as sharp and in focus as I would think they should be.

Neat shot. Colors are great and so's the background.

The layering could've been done a little better IMO.

The image meets the subject matter dead on. A sound demonstration of the creative process in meeting the challenge in a very unusual way. A couple of minor detail problems as the image appears to be over sharpened, but that may be a lighting artifact. The DOF could have been used more effectively. A good solid entry into the challenge.

I don't think I get this. What are they jumping out of? Is it a quiver? It feels overly processed to me, nothing seems quite real.

Lol fun picture. What did you use for the tent part? The tent does seem a little out of focus however. Maybe its just the material used?
