My first impression is this is a perfect subject for a zoneplate. Second impression is I'm quite envious of the detail you've maintained here in the nest and the bits. After reading your other comments, I have to say that I find it more hopeful than sad - signs of a successful mission for this particular nest - the young have hatched and moved on, ready to take their turns when the time comes building nests and raising young.

Karen! my apologies! I've not been keeping up on my pms/emails so will answer yours tomorrow but will say, the book 'panel' is currently Talj and myself with an unamed fotog casting the final vote if we disagree - 1 vote for this thus far girl :)

Tom said it well, as does your statement, it's really a dichotomy of feeling of joy and despair at the same time. They say one of the hardest times on a marriage is the empty nest, when the kids have gone off to live their adults lives. The couple struggles with the joy that their children have grown to take care of themselves versus the feeling of immense loss due to their independence. A very moving picture!
