My boyfriend, Will, chews his nails...it bugs me, but it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the challenge. I took a couple with my normal camera, but then on the last day I realized I wouldn't be home in time to submit so I used their Canon Powershot S230.

Black & white adds a nice touch!

Very nice composition for this challenge. I really like the portrait quality and the detail that includes the well chewed nails and even the DOF to include the wood textures in the background. Probably my favorite of the nail biting.

It's great rendition - nice work on the composition, exposure and "printing." Nice blacks alng with some white whites and a good tonal range in between. The background and its textures goes well. I think it would be even more powerful if the model did exactly what he was doing but shifted his eyes towards the camera (not the head - just the eyes) - maybe not full eye contact, but some the eyes were more visible.

This is my favorite of the nail-biter entries and one of my favorites for the challenge. I like the expression and the focus. Is there a specific reason for using black and white here? I might have preferred it in color to ad a little more "life" to the skin tones.
