... nothing happened.

This is slightly embarrassing, to score so high. Oh, well.
It is indeed a self-portrait; I was thinking about Lance Armstrong's second book, called (with a double measure of appropriateness) Every Second Counts, a copy of which is in the bookcase just out of shot.

I was also trying to recapture something of an earlier self-portrait:

Ha! I showed her this comment. Unfortunately she was drinking tea at the time so I got a bit wet. When she'd recovered enough to speak, she gasped, "ROFLMAO" (whatever that means).

Terrific! You're actually appealing to the masses! I was one of your 8's (and I gave only 3 of those, and no higher scores, this challenge.)

In my opinion, this deserved a higher finish. It's a very good photo. Lighting is good, texture on hat is interesting, and I like the closed eyes.

Hmm. Hat looks familiar. Interesting that my eyes continue to move from the light switch to the partial picture frame to the glasses to the watch to the light switch.... Clockwise around a blank center. Great sharpness for a second. I like this a lot.

Nice light and I like the contrast. Interesting. One of my 8's.

Interesting choice for the challenge. A thought provoking B&W. It doesn't illustrate the 1 second exposure concept for me - and I can't connect the title to the photo or the challenge.

Terrific. It looks like the cover for a Leonard Cohen CD. The highlighted watch really works well. 10 from me.

I like your use of negative space and inclusion of the light switch and picture frame for some added geometry. Quick nap?
