Nice catch. Top 5. Score an 8.
How many shots taken to get this particular shot? I'd guess quite a few.
I'd prefer ( I think) to see the salt a little further behind her.

wow, i really love this photo,it really is a new perspective on throwing salt over the shoulde, it is also extremly clear and minimalistic-well done -9-anz

Excelent stop motion. One of my favorite sald photos this challenge. I think that the angle and framing/cropping are great, and the focus is perfect. Detail is simply amazing. I can see individual specs of salt. Great shot. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~

how neat! how many shots did that take you?
11/08/2002 01:42:00 PM
a good idea - especially with the area of blackness on the left. Makes it kind of look like she's thwoing the salt into nothingness. I would do one thing to make it better though. That is, i would have tried to time the shot so the hand was a little further back, allowing you to see more of the women's face. Other than that, great shot :)

Excellent in flight capture, and yeah it does look like a seahorse. Would like to see some outtakes from this - some blur on the salt, the mess on the floor afterwards, etc ; )

Beautiful shot! Very good color, focus, etc. The salt flying was captured very nicely, I see the seahorse shape. (good title!) 9 Swash

great action shot...well done but I don't really care for the title...not that that matters that much but it makes me think too much about the shape that the salt is making and for me that detracts from the overall pic.

it would have been nicer if you could have had the salt captured in the wide open space.

Good timing.

Admittedly I gave more 10s than normal this week, but this was always going to be one of them. Extra kudos for providing an original viewpoint on what turned out to be a popular superstition. I like the choice of composition in the final image, and all the red really adds something.

good pic but the hand looks a little unnaturtally positioned.

Fantastic Photo. The stop action is tremendous and I love the colors. The red sweater and nails, the black background, those blue eyes and the white skin. Terrific contrast and lighting. One of top two of the week. A 10!

Wrong shoulder, you are supposed to through the salt over your right shoulder because that is the shoulder where the devil sits and whispers evil advice in your ear. So you through the salt in the devils face. The right shoulder is where the angel sits and whispers pious advice in your other ear. Of course I don't really know you and mabey your the kind of person who would rather through salt in the angels face. I suppose I coulden't really blame you for that as I have certainly salted plenty of angelic advice myself.

I like this version of the salt superstition the best of all this week's salt entries. Nice job!
11/05/2002 02:25:00 AM
I thought it was a just pinch of salt over the shoulder. ;) Good photo. I think I would have preferred the salt a bit further away. But you're right... not completely separate.
11/04/2002 06:26:00 PM
I believe you're supposed to throw it over your LEFT shoulder, but I won't mark you down for it :)
11/04/2002 06:19:00 PM
Amazin how did you do that--great shot andrewm
11/04/2002 01:40:00 PM
Cool shot. You did this very well. Love her, the salt, all the red....nice job. Justine
11/04/2002 12:46:00 PM
Almost went with a similar idea. You did a good job at stopping the action. Hand may be covering a little to much of the face, but it's one of my higher rankings this week.
11/04/2002 12:31:00 PM
Exceedingly well captured. (Either that, or there was a huge pile of salt after you'd finally achieved this shot.) seasick - 7.
11/04/2002 11:49:00 AM
Bet this took more than one shot. 7 JEM

Not sure what the illusion is but what a pretty face
11/04/2002 08:24:00 AM
only one of the salt pictures that had a person throwing it i've seen (so far), you get a ten.
11/04/2002 08:17:00 AM
Great photo! Captured the salt perfectly. =-p 9/10!
11/04/2002 07:08:00 AM
Very well captured, a closer crop may have been better. Isn't it over left shoulder with right hand however ?
11/04/2002 06:42:00 AM
This could be a winner this week. (sadly, thats not saying much.) like the red sweater, clear eyes. How much salt was used in the process!
11/04/2002 06:08:00 AM
Beautiful portrait. Don't know how many tries it took you to get the "sea horse" but it is beautiful. The colors are so natural, so real. I love the blue eyes. I would have croppeda little more from behind her. The empty space detracts from what you have. It is close to a 10 before taking off for the crop. It is so important to me that I can't give more than an 8 overall score.......which is a really GOOD score in itself. Looked at it again and again and decided to change to a 9.PTL
11/04/2002 05:52:00 AM
this would have been super awesome if you had gottent the salt on the black background instead of in front of her hair....still a very nice shot - zadore
11/04/2002 04:42:00 AM
Great capture
11/03/2002 08:23:00 PM
Nice job. The color is good althought the face seems a bit washed out. I wonder how many times you took this and how much salt you had to clean up?? DPz

the photo does't do a lot for me, but it was done with superior focus and lighting. great technique.
