My immediate impression was dry and desolate. This is an excellent depiction, the ominous sky adds a sinister effect. All it needs is a cow skull lying in the foreground.

Nice contrast between sky and land. That barren land looks only a step away from being desert. The sky looks so promising of a decent storm and much needed rain, but it was probably just teasing.
