I'm not a fan of the vignetting on this one; it seems to take away from the picture by making it too dark, perhaps if the image was in color it would work.

Being Australian, I don't know the history behind this, but I gather it's similar to our 1 dollar notes, and our one and two cent coins. Great idea! I find the tonal range in this a bit muddy though.
