my little brother's birthday cake!
this is my first contest here so I am interested to see the kind of feedback i get. I really wanted to use some more advanced editing with this photo but well obviously couldn't :) although i am still fairly pleased with how this turned out for only having a candle as a light source (no flash either)

So close! I really like the composition, a bit wacky and carefree, as birthday party should be. That foreground candle really should be in focus IMO. I don't know if you can choose where the camera focuses with a powershot, but it's just behind the front candle. Also, more DOF would really help capture that front portion of the cake. f/2.6 obviously produced a very tight DOF. The BW was a great choice in my opinion.

Good luck in your next challenge!

Maybe a little faster shutter speed to really capture the flames. The slight Slant is a little distracting.

Nice subject and idea. Good sharpness in the middle of the cake, but wish the entire front candle was in focus.

Looks like a stock photo - which is good.
