This was my daughters idea, so all credit to her. I taped a bulb to a metal rod and smeared sterno jelly on it. I liked another exposure better, but my daughter picked this one, and since it was her idea....
Pretty basic treatment in development, shot in JPEG, rotated and square cropped in lightroom, 25% sharpen and I lightened the blues a touch, about 5%.Then sent to photoshop and hit it with USM 150, 4, 2, saved for web and USM again at 50, 12,.5.

How long did it take before the bulb burst, with all the heat.

About 45 seconds of burn time

Not really clear what this means. Do you mean that the lamp ought to have been lit, and that the fire is a second element? or do you mean the highlights thrown by the secondary lamp used to bring out the treads? The blue flame is about 85% of the light in the image, so while there is a secondary source visible it isn't the main source, and I'm not willing to work with flame in the dark even for DPC.

Very cool idea, and quite creative. It could be a little sharper, but I didnt vote you lower because of it. 8

very interestind and almost looks like a map of the world on the bulb. It's nice to see shots where there has clearly been a great deal of effort put in. Good work

I like the feel of this and the novel use of a bulb. Looks dangerous to set-up!!
