Hi Patti, I was one of your 10s. I looked at it for a while before voting, just enjoying the light & shadow. Also the strange hints of green I keep seeing amongst the leaves--but when I concentrate on looking closely it's gone. I gave it a 10 because I like the sky & the way the light models the figure of the fellow tossing the handfull of dirt. And because of the way it holds my attention. Interesting to look at. I keep waiting for him to turn around & he seems just about to.
Don't give up. The people who are willling to take a risk & a chance & a dare on this site need to please stick around to support one another & to remind the literal-minded stick-in-the-mud types that there is some diversity in the world after all.

Interesting shot. I like the monochrome for the most part... just not the sky. I would prefer it without the pink/peach hue. |

If those seeds being thrown weren't added in post-processing, then very nice freeze frame :) |

I work with farmers in northern lower Michigan so this is a cool subject for me to see here. I like the motion of the dirt. |

Nice - I think the monochrome adds to it. Eastern Washington? Not sure where else I've seem them use those big irrigation rigs. |

hmm, i wonder what the crop is, interesting processing, almost like sepia but with slightly different tones, i think this could be improved by boosting the contrast a bit |

Nice photojournalism type of shot. The sepia really adds to it. |

I am not particularly keen on the use of colour in the sky - I would probably prefer a straight monotone, and perhaps with abit more contrast. What I do like though, i the strong narrative and composition. |

Nice to see him throwing some earth and, although not very clear, I like the water things in the upper part. |

Neat tones used. I love that you captured the water coming from the pipes and the dirt in the air. |

Has a nostalgic feeling ... like a hundred year old photo, but with a modern twist ... the irrigator. Interesting juxtaposition. |

a little too central in my opinion, the the conversion to sepia does not really work here... |

One thing: the comp is too centred - try to crop out the left side |

I wish he were leaning INTO the photo instead of out of it... perhaps a bit off the left would have made this better? I like the processing choice.
Not voting yet. |
