 In memory of Jean's Mum. She was 96 when I took this photo. An amazing lady with the most delicious sense of humour. She used to come up to the SPCA Garden Open Days (fundraising in her daughter's gorgeous garden)and chat to everyone, supervise and entertain us in the garage where we make the cups of tea. I was blessed to stay friends with her until she passed on aged 98.

What a character !!! But don't assume that because you have an affinity for your subject, the rest of the world will too. Otherwise, a good workmanlike photo.

What a great expression on this little lady... she looks like she's very spunky!! (next time pull her away from the background just a bit so you don't have that shadow on the right - otherwise the lighting is really nice)

What a delightful smile your subject has - she looks lovely! You clearly have a great deal of empathy with this old lady, and it shines through in the photo. On a technical note, the background is a little stark, but it is the character that you have captured so well that matters here.

An excellent candid, and probably a wonderful memory for either you or whoever you took this image for. Her smile and her eyes are priceless! I like it that the whole image is in tones of red (is that her favourite colour?). It is probably a bit too personal a picture for it to do well in a very public contest such as this one.
