You have asked for more comments in the gripe thread... I gave this a six which is in line with 177 other like-minded voters, 6 being the vote you received the most times. In my scale, 6 is good technical knowledge and composition, just a bit lacking in some areas.

Upon a revisit, I find that the object in the lower left hand corner to keep drawing my eye, stopping me from actually "looking" at the guy. So to improve the shot I would clone out, or crop out that part of the image. Also I find the girls behind the shoulder to be a distraction, but removing those might require a bit more work. I would have scored it more highly with those amendments as my eyes would remain fixed then on the main subject, which is a good one. Some of the other comments also mention a tighter crop which I presume is for the same reason as I suggest, the lower left corner.

Great street portrait. Powerful expression, and the eye contact works so well. The cigarette conspires to the expression as well. A glimpse into an interesting life makes life more interesting for the viewer as well! Well done.

I would have done just a touch more cropping...taken the girls out of the background and the shoulder to the left out...would have been a little more compelling

I am sorry to tell you I'm burned out on the genre of photo. It's a good photo of a good subject, but I can't work up any enthusiasm for it.

Nice portrait - Maybe if you were tighter on the subject or cropped some of the empty space out on the left of his face.

This looks like a fascinating fellow - somehow the look I'd imagined of some scoundrel you'd meet in Bombay. Reminds me a bit of Ricardo Montalban for some reason. I think it is the eyes. Very nice shot.

i would like it to be cropped a little more on the left to remove the distracting thing in the lower left hand, but nice expression and details

You know, the funny thing about having a turban is that every pic that is taken of you is a pic of a guy with a turban.

He seems like he'd be a pirate, I think it's the mustache and the earrings that make me think this. Great cultural portrait.

Effective color treatment in a good portrait, but there is some pretty bad artifacting going on in this image which is unfortunate.

Not an anti smoker but the cigarette draws my attention more than the turban.

An interesting guy for sure, but the lighting is a bit harsh... you lose details in your whites, especially in the cig, his shirt, and the top of his nose.

I guess size matters... For turbans. The sepia is perfect for this picture.

a little tighter crop from the left would have been better in my opinion
