There's too much contrast on the starfish for me, but I do love all the storytelling elements in the photo. Intriguing shot.

Reall neat composition in this, there are so many different elements, it's a little busy but in a way that I love.

The composition seems a bit cluttered, the focus a little off, but I like the general atmosphere you captured here.

Who is longing for the sea? The starfish, the man, the ship, or all of them? Makes me think about it.

Nice composition, and I like the starfish as a foreground element. This would benefit from a CCW horizon rotation...

What a WONDERFUL composition!!! The starfish, the man, the ship, they all come together nicely to make a photo that tells a story. So the technicals aren't perfect but when a photo is an interesting as this one is you don't need perfect technicals.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. I LOVE how you composed all your elements here to tell a story!!! You have a great eye to have spotted the potential of all three elements together. The seastar, the lone person, and the ship in the distance could all have a longing to be at sea and they all seek it in different ways. The ship 'longs' to be out in the deeper waters for she is a ship meant to travel to far distant and deep waters. The lone man stands there looking in the direction of the ship. He longs to get back to the sea and feel the freedom of open air and wide expanse of blue. The seastar longs to return to the ocean bottom. The shore is far from it's familiar home of the deep ocean floor. Three main subjects all with a story to tell. Well done in showing us this story!

Ok I like the shot. I think the starfish could have been sharper and more in focus. That would have pulled an extra number or two out of me. 5

What a surreal tableau: starfish in the foreground, man in midrange, ship in the distance. Rather Dali-esque.

I think the lighting here is a bit harsh, but I really really love the comp of this shot. The guy standing alone in the background, the lone starfish in the front.. Its very cool, and the title is very fitting for the scene. Great capture.

Wow my eyes literally seemed to step backward into the photo.. from the starfish, thru watery passageways to the stepstones out to the person, then out to the ship.

good POV, I like the relationship between the starfish and the man in the distance. the ship (though also "longing for the sea") is one element too much for me. your horizon is slightly tilted, that should have been corrected.

A bit disconcerting because there's not enough to give the proper perspectives Both starfish and man seem larger than the ship. Nice lighting & colors. Starfish seems a bit blurry.

Love the composition of this shot. Foreground: a lonely starfish away from the sea. Mid-ground: A lonely and longing seafarer. Background: the far away ship in water where they both long to be. Wonderful.

great example of the rule of thirds, you've got a lot going on here, and one would think it woulc clutter the shot, but here it works, they all blend in together and tell a story
