Awwwwww... I really feel for your heavy heart on this story.
As a human being who was out doing your work and spraying, you did what you thought was best in moving the little ones to a place where you believed they would have a better chance at survival.
There is also the very real possibility that if they were alive two days later and then not a few days after that, that something might have happened to the mother herself, in which case nothing could have saved them.
Please don't be so hard on yourself and love this picture again. If not, their lives and the enjoyment they have brought others will not be in vain, but you will be depriving yourself of the joy of having been there to witness the miracle that they were.

This is a wonderful "momment in time" photo you should be proud of. The focus is extraordinary at directing your eye right where you wanted it. That's reinforced by the color. Subject's terrific. Among best in show. |

Little Jimmy was the eldest of his siblings, and as such found himself in the position of caring for them now and then. He would help feed them if his mother was too busy fighting a flock of crows. He would admonish them if they got into too much mischief. He would teach them all that he knew, and he would do everything that a bigger brother could, for he took his responsibility seriously.
Indeed, so it was that on cold dark nights when their mother was late coming home from hunting, he would even tuck them in, kiss them goodnight, and then begin a heartfelt singing of their favorite lullabye. |

life .. the start can often be very touch and go .. looking at these very new chicks i wonder if they survived .. its a great shot .. love that hungry little mouth, the eyes that have never opened, the nearly featherless bodies .. some would think ugly, but to me they are very very cute .. the nest surrounding them is perfect .. its like enclosed and protective ..:) |
