Challenge: Hidden Gem -- 1,000th Challenge! (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Casio Exilim EX-Z70

These are the 'fairy grotto's' in Saalfeld, Germany.
I saw a sign at the street while passing through this area, had time and went there. Then I was half an hour really disappointed (no fairies to be seen) until we reached this point. There was a fairy tale told and a little light show illuminating the cave... and I was overwhelmed... it was so beautiful!

No editing.

picture could off been a bit bigger
03/17/2009 12:25:39 PM
Spooky, haunting, interesting, and like it's from a story.
03/17/2009 08:02:01 AM
Bit dark. Not much to see.
03/17/2009 07:32:16 AM
Good shot. A little on the small side to really see what the pic is about.
03/17/2009 06:54:13 AM
interesting exposure, for five from me ;D

cheers, brano

Awesome cave.. the darkness is brooding, and the stalactites are cool. Nice shot.
03/16/2009 05:58:38 PM
Too dark on my monitor, but this is a great picture. Great job with the title too. Hope you had a torch (no, I'm not British, but it seems a better word for this picture than flashlight).
03/16/2009 06:53:42 AM
Maybe it's my monitor, but the image feels too dark...
03/15/2009 06:46:34 PM
This looks magical! It's hard to get the full effect at this size, that's why it's important (in my opinion) to try to use the fully allowed 720 pixels. I wonder if this would lose the mystery if it were a little brighter? Lovely shot at any rate.
03/15/2009 05:21:46 PM
a bit too dark for me
03/15/2009 01:25:53 PM
Great reflection. Would have liked to see the shot larger and maybe a tad lighter.
03/15/2009 11:07:40 AM
tighter crop and this would have been oustanding!
03/15/2009 09:14:02 AM
The lighting and composition with the reflection makes this shot a mystical wonder.
03/15/2009 09:05:37 AM
Wish the crop was a bit tighter. The composition is a little bland and I wish the lit area was a bit brighter.
03/15/2009 07:05:06 AM
To dark to make out on my monitor.
03/15/2009 04:57:27 AM
I like the effect of this. I just wish it had been larger.
03/15/2009 03:25:51 AM
Mysterious. Calls the viewer to come and explore. Nicely done.
03/14/2009 07:54:36 PM
Yes, it looks like it :) Could be to underworld too :) Very good!
03/14/2009 07:44:48 PM
Nice symmetrical view with the light and reflection.
03/14/2009 07:40:14 PM
Is this a cave? It's too dark and too small to really see, sorry.
03/14/2009 07:08:35 PM
way too dark, IMHO
03/14/2009 01:30:50 PM
Wonderful mystery. Would have cropped a bit of the negative space.
03/14/2009 01:12:38 PM
Fascinating shot......
03/14/2009 07:58:06 AM
This looks like an interesting place :) It looks like the image needs straightening to me?
03/14/2009 07:26:02 AM
Very interesting cave. I'd love to see just a *little* more detail overall.
03/14/2009 05:55:21 AM
Love the mystical feel
03/14/2009 02:09:54 AM
This is way too dark much of the graodure of the place was lost ...
03/13/2009 08:28:49 PM
Very 17th century! Nicely done. 8
03/13/2009 08:18:43 PM
bold shot, insufficient impact, wish there was just a little more
03/13/2009 04:49:05 PM
On my calibrated monitor, this is a bit to dark to make out. I think I'd like it, possibly a lot, if it were just a little brighter.
03/13/2009 02:41:02 PM
Great reflection is such low lighting.
03/13/2009 01:48:54 PM
Back to comment: this image looked a lot darker on my laptop and it was hard to see any detail. Now that I see it on my home computer it has a lot more appeal. However, there is a bit more dark area on the left side than what is necessary to balance the image and if you would have posted this at 720 pixels as allowed, the detail on the right would have been much more dramatic.
03/13/2009 10:55:39 AM
This picture is way too dark I cannot tell what it is
03/13/2009 04:00:27 AM
Is it just my monitor, or is the picture really too dark?
03/12/2009 03:31:25 PM
This looks like a truly fantastic place to shoot! I wish you'd uploaded it at the full allowable size, so we could maybe see a bit more of the detail in the darkness.
03/12/2009 03:10:16 PM
nice reflection, I can just imagine a fairyland thru that passage way
03/12/2009 12:13:28 PM
Kinda spooky - I like it!
03/12/2009 10:49:46 AM
nice cave photo
03/11/2009 04:13:19 PM
Wish the image was bigger!
03/11/2009 01:56:17 PM
I wish I wish I wish the photo was maximum size so I can give it the 10 it deserves. Also it reminds me so much of that last scene from 'The Decent'
03/11/2009 01:38:35 PM
At first I wanted just a little more light to see more but its like the longer you look at it the more it comes alive. Its like an illusion photograph. Great!
03/11/2009 12:56:44 PM
The lighting is awesome and great shadows
03/11/2009 11:47:41 AM
I would love to see the rest of the shots you took in here.
03/11/2009 08:09:56 AM
because the shot is so dark it looses a lot of the "story" in my opinion
03/10/2009 11:48:22 PM
to dark for my liking
03/10/2009 10:39:18 PM
This is SO dark I can't tell what the heck it is...sorry have to give you a super low vote
03/10/2009 10:05:15 PM
Intriguing shot. Beautiful place.
03/10/2009 09:44:57 PM
very nice etheral shot
03/10/2009 09:03:45 PM
though I really like this...it still seems to be to dark...it does capture your imagination
03/10/2009 08:28:33 PM
What an incredible location! I wish it wasn't so dark, because it is so dark it has gone from mysterious to just hard to see. It is very intriguing though.
