Probably my favorite photo ever. I hate that the top is cropped so tight, but I shot this through a fence and the angle included some power lines and clutter that didn't add to the shot, so I had to crop it. It was a one time shot, as she was moving toward me.

I'm thrown a little by the shadowed border but I think the image itself is wonderful, particularly the colors and the touch of blur/glow.

This is most definitely one of my favorite photos. The dog looks to be so blissfully savoring the beautiful summer day. It washes over you as you look at the photo. I think this is fabulous photography!

The dog is blocking my view of the power lines. :P Great portrait, Judy. Yeah, the crop hurt it, but you can still go back to the original and clone out the power lines to get a wonderful print from it.

I like this photo. Not too sure about the border effect, but I like the softness of the photo. I do wish that it wasn't cropped so close to the top of his head though. Just a personal preference.

I really like this shot - though an unusual amount of "dead space" to the right, it works for me. Would've liked to see a bit more space above the dogs head though.

Seems cropped a little low, more space above the dogs head would have been nice.

Yes, this is a gem of a photo; both the dog and grass flowing like a soft breeze. Nice contrast in colors.

Hey! I know this one!!! Judi, hello, your dog picture looks as good now as it did when I first saw it. I like the look of satisfaction on his? her? face. And the colours are great, really beautiful.

for me the crop is a bit tight on the top, but love the soft treatment jmo

03/15/2009 08:49:41 AM
The crop is a little tight, but the emotion and processing more than make up for any shortcomings. I LOVE this shot - it has such a natural feel and whimsical, animal joy that it completely transports the viewer into the scene. Very nice work!

I like the composition and the dreamy nature of the photo. Personally not too keen on the border. Nice (and different) pet image, well done. Good luck for the rest of the challenge.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. The wind gently blows and billows and the tall grass sways to the musical tune of the air. The ol' girl feels the caress of the wind and she closes her eyes, tilts her head up ever so slightly to hear nature's music. This is what I see and feel when I look upon this photo. I don't really know if the dog is actually old or young but I feel that not only is the dog gentle but is an old soul that is connecting to nature. The expression is that he/she is hearing and feeling things in nature that we miss. Love the colors. The soft focus on the meadows brings a magical/mystical feel to the composition. One thing I note as very interesting is the choice of framework: the dropshadow makes the picture seem to pop off the page. I don't think the photo needed that for the composition itself is strong that it does not need any frame to put the spotlight on it. It is beautiful all by itself.

I swear he's smiling. I like the left half, but there's something odd about the lighting on the right half.

Such a beautiful pup...I just want to reach in there and give him a pet on the head. That offset composition with all that soft and beautiful negative space is quite nice!

Lovely portrait. The softness really suits the Pyr, who has a great smile. I do wish there was a little more headroom above him, though.

The composition is really rather distracting. Almost like this was for a pamphlet where text or something else would go on the right half of the image. The dog is really hanging out at the edge of the frame and the negative space doesn't really do much for me as it stands.
03/12/2009 11:31:35 AM
