 I took this photo a while ago (before I found this site) and I was bummed I wouldn't be able to use it for a challenge on this site, so i was totally stoked when this challenge came up. I also made a massive print out of it that is up at my house.
I tweaked the contrast and saturation, but the original is not to shabby itself.

The back-lit line of the curve adds the necessary interest and context and is hard to achieve - a strong silhouette.

A more square crop might help the viewer focus more attention on the skateboarder.

The hands really call to mind a similarity to feathers of a bird in flight.

My title would have been "in flight".

I find the treatment of the sky to be distracting and it does not contribute at all. In fact, cropping down to just above the top of the light pole places the skater on the top third and increases the negative space in the bottom of the frame. This emphasizes your low point of view and enhances the height/sense of flying of the skater. Also, there is a pleasant shape in the cloud which lends to a framing effect.

The vote I'm 8iving is based on that crop. :)

Nice capture. If I could do anything to improve it I might crop off some of the bottom and a little of the left. The Skater and the blue background are excellent!

good capture of the moment. I would recommend a tighter crop , crop of more of the bottom. straighten the lamp post during post processing , yet keeping the aspec ration of the athelete. 6

Great action capture. The arms with outspread fingers look like the wings of a raptor. Love the sky and clouds, and how he is positioned between the light pole and the ramp. Would have cropped out some of the lower negative space.

Great silhouette in action! Funny how the head and finger are missing, yet you can still see small details like the shoelaces!
