Well - until I read one of the edited comments below, I did not get this illusion only. Good job on fooling the viewer's eye! Too bad we didn't get it.

Interesting looking illusion - those stairs look like a stack of books, and it looks like you took a photo of a painting. Not sure what to think.

Neat. Is this in your house? 8

Nice photo of the mural. Did you paint this? It's very good! 8 Swash
(future challenges: I am going to start scoring down for photos of just artwork w/o any photographer additions/alterations, FYI, prolly 2 points, maybe 3)

this would have been better if someone was sitting on the stairs...

Maybe get more of the real stairs?

Maybe I'm wrong, but IMHO this is not more than a photo of someones elses art. Where is your part of creativity? Send me an eMail if I'm wrong and I will look at this a 2nd time to change my vote... - nds

Thanks a lot for your eMail and I have to say sorry now! The painting on the wall is your's and I didn't saw the illusion with the original stair. I didn't wanted to offend your sensibilities, but this shot is just too perfect! I looked at it about a few minutes, but I was unable to realize this perfect illusion. Now I understand and I think, you took the right decision with placing more emphasis on the painting than on the original stairs. I hope for your score, that I am the only silly fool among the voters ;-) Did you thought about a little help for the eye to see this illusion? Maybe a bunch of flowers, a jag or a basked at one of the stairs could be helpful here. Or possibly just some petals, well-fitting to the painting... I hope, that you can forgive my mistake, good luck for the challenge with this awesome illusion! - nds

Isn't this just a picture of a picture?!?
10/28/2002 05:37:00 AM
Is this a picture of a picture? Not very original.

I almost voted this a '1' because I thought it was JUST a picture of the painting. Now that I see it isn't, you get to move up some. I would've made it a little lighter to make a little more emphasis on the real steps. Good luck! - Inspzil
A couple days later - You get to move up some more!!

More light!
Good concept!
Who is the artist? ;)
Good luck!
