Heh - sorry, Christoph, but I had to.... :-)
I have a couple of nifty HDR'd shots from an old train station and more nifty HDR'd and Topaz'd shots from 8 stories up in Frankfurt - with good light, even! I have some nifty night shots from 70+ stories up in Frankfurt, too. But I'm going with this one simply because it's my favorite shot of the month. It makes me smile. It reminds me of a great time. It was fun to take.
We were at a little restaurant feeding Cory (Chris and I had just eaten there, went back to feed Cory and have a beverage) and of course we were all playing with cameras. Chris had stuck my gorillapod on his head, so I had to shoot. Light was HORRIBLE, so I used the pop-up camera flash with a napkin over it to diffuse it a touch.
Processing involved cloning a flash reflection off his glasses, a Nik Silver Efex layer reduced in opacity to about 90% (not sure what setting - unfortunately Bridge doesn't save that info for me, but I think it may be the Holga setting), a wee bit of red/yellow added in a color balance layer, sharpen, resize, save for web.
No, I don't expect this will do well but I do hope it makes a few of you (other than Christoph and Cory) smile. I'm very pleased with it as my choice for this month.

OK, so no one finds this amusing except me, Christoph and Cory. Ah well. Maybe you had to be there.... :-)
By the way, even with it's lovely 4.4ish score, I'm STILL pleased to have this as my entry for this month.
9 Oct 2009: Edit to add this is STILL one of my favorite shots this year. :-)
7 Jun 2012: I still love this picture.

ROFL! First I've seen this. Excellent sci-fi feel! Sorry your score was soooo low. I would have given this a high vote. |

Thanks to you and other fabulous photogs here, I'm beginning to appreciate my own submissions that only I "get". I happen to really love the mood here too. Very Star Trek in a Talking Heads mood. |

You did a really nice job with creating an aura of mystery (and fun!)
and it sounds as if you had a great time doing it - it certainly made me smile! so thanks for that...

ROFL - I love the fact you had the courage to put this into a Free Study - a double helping of Kudos to you and a Gingerbread latte to follow . .
It looks worryingly like you have kidnapped him and are doing some crazed experiment involving thunderstorms and lengths of copper wire . . .
:- ) |

I think it's the flash that killed you. Those harsh shadows scream amateur. But if you look past that, it's a great candid moment! Nicely processed with an air of mystery. And a good memory for you and Chris, it sounds like. My two cents anyway... |

What are you doing way down here, woman!? Definitely an odd one. I can see why it came in where it did, but you appealed to Ubique, which is not easy to do.
I will not even guess what I might have voted it, because it did not come up for me. I am pleased to see you entering what you like, however. It's a way more interesting photo than my train! |

I nearly always like portraits with eyes closed ... the good ones seem to liberate the subject, and give the viewer so much more scope for imagination. This is a good one. |

This doesn't have anything to do with a German GTG does it? Looks remarkably like Mephisto - with a gorilla pod on his head..... Probably one of the most bizarre portraits I have seen on DPC of late - nice one! |
