| As a dad I can certainly appreciate the connection to "Puzzled". I enjoy the processing approach you took with this. Overall, well done and somewhat undervalued in the challenged IMHO. |

I am utterly charmed by this picture... to be slogging through one jigsaw after another to find a very human moment so intimately portrayed was pure joy. For that, I'm giving you a Posthumous Blue Ribbon.

| I think this has so much potential, I love the idea and the framing. I wish the dof were a little more pronounced so the stripes wouldn't stand out so much. Great lighting. |

| Concept is good. Little kid puzzled by the great mystery of tying shoe strings. However the laces are obscured so any impact they might have provided (think a big tangle) is missing. Primary focal point of the shot is a toss up between face and point of puzzlement (fingers and shoelaces). The face is well displayed, but the expression comes across as boredom or concentration rather than a puzzled child. Hands/shoe are pushed up against the frame and come across as incidental to the shot entirely (reinforced by part of the left hand being cropped). Processing is nice, has a nostalgic feel. |
