A pair of Redhead ducks, stubbornly staying as far away from me as possible. I'm convinced 300mm is not nearly long enough for wild birds! The Redheads and other interesting ducks were at this lake for about a week, but when I went back this weekend they were all gone. Bummer. They have rather bright yellow eyes which are quite striking in the males and were a nice change of pace from Mallards.

Love your title. It really looks that way. Colours are nice and I really like those bands of silver through the water.

This is about what I am getting recently with my 400. So you're right, you never have enough zoom!! I want to try Patio127's 800!!

They are an interesting pair. I have never seen this species before.

300 mm is not enough , Mary but this is quite a nice capture- going their own ways :) I have a friend with the HUGE 800 mm Canon lens--yup - that's enough but you have to be a weight lifter- you should see the tripod LOL !

Funny how they are swimming away from each other, and as you say also from you. The patterns waterbirds make when they are cautious are interesting to watch, and often hard to convey. nice.
