I can't believe this got such a low score. I actually like the idea of what you did. Try increasing the contrast and it will look much better (in my opinion).

As far as the rude comments are concerned, while I agree that they were unnecessary, perhaps your title was partly to blame. Had you called it "High Key", people might have been more polite.

I knew when I entered this shot that I wouldnt get a high score. On first glance, yea it can look a bit rubbish... but if you can take the time to look at it properly, its actually not a bad shot.
I personally like the fact that you cant make everything out, that the houses are just blobs of colour, and you can just make out the outlines of the cars/pumps etc. I also like the fact that I managed to retain the Shell logos and numbers on the pumps.
I knew noone else would submit a shot like this, so at least it was original! Anyway, a normal picture of a petrol station in the UK wouldnt be very exciting unless it was dark, but I couldnt find the time to get out in the hours of darkness in the time we had to get this shot. So I went with this.
Happy some people appreciate it like I do. Alot of the comments were rude and pointless. I like constructive criticism, but if your going to be plain rude, dont bother commenting! It doesnt exactly help ameteurs like myself!
Guess I will see this shot emerge again in the next ribbon challenge!

I actually rather liked this - was very surprised to see it down in last place.

This is a beautiful shot. I can't believe I only gave it a 5. Amazingly low score.

I like the effect, especially red diagonal line.

Overexposed?

I sure hope this is a brown effort.

The title says it all.

The overexposure does not appeal to me...but you did meet the challenge at least

Um, very bright!

Yep, you're right!

If you're going for overexposed, why is everything gray?
02/18/2009 09:40:37 AM
Why?
02/18/2009 02:19:14 AM
You're right

Yes it is!!!
I am not a fan of overexposed photography, especially when it is THIS overexposed. It does not appeal to me, either achieved through the camera, or through PP.
You have managed to retain the Shell Shop label, and a couple of the numbers. I wish I could make out the pumps etc. I think you have taken this from an angle, that with correct exposure, it could have been an interesting shot, but as it is, it doesn't work for me.
