What you see here is only the beginning of an eventful evening. I had to watch the girls for the evening and figured they would want to have a picnic at the beach. So we got Taco Bell and of course we just HAD to take the picnic basket along. So we drove out to this beach. Unfortunately we couldn't park the beach so had to park a couple blocks away. I tell the girls that we'll have to walk and gave them the option of going someplace else because I made it clear that I would not carry either of them back (especially Cartesia).

So we walked there, and the girls started going at it. Then the food came out and Cartesia immediately dropped her taco (or whatever it was) in the sand. Then the mosquitoes came. I took a few sunset shots but we decided we had to get out of there because they were swarming around us.

We moved quickly and then Cartesia wanted to be carried. She has a habit of stopping that when she gets like that and we were being eaten alive. I pick her up and we start moving. Not bad - yet. Then Taylor decides she doesn't want to walk. I figure the best way to get to the car quickly was to pick her up too. But that's not good enough (now we were a feast for every mosquito in Indiana) so I had to wrap the girls in the blanket to keep them off. So there I was carrying both girls wrapped up in the blanket, the picnic basket, and my camera, and walking as quickly as I could. When we got into the car to finish eating, the 2 liter of pop I brought exploded when it was opened. My day got better after that.

What a great capture! I don't think the lake is necessary though, so I'd suggest a tighter crop to the sand. And this shot just looked to me like it was begging for the LucisArt "illustrative" treatment, since it could be a rockewell painting in itself. So I gave it a quick go (hope you don't mind):

Mate...Sounds like you had a really great time at the beach?? lol Wish I'd been there with the camera, what with you carrying Cartesia, Taylor, blanket, basket, camera etc. And bloody hell - then the pop bottle.....Hmmm!!! What we do for the kids.

This shot makes me want to laugh.... its so typical of kids fighting over the most mundane things, and by the sounds of it, this shot pretty much sums up that day.

What a great story, I can relate and have similar tales of woe! Nice pop for the processing

ROFL! I know this tale... I thought for sure you were going to say the smaller one went butt over head into the sand! Lovely editing, and a great shot to remind them of how they got along as kids after they grow up.

I'm glad you got this shot to at least tell part of the story. Thanks for sharing the tale - funny now, but not at the time!
Your processing has brought out the best of the photo - at least it looks like it could have been a nice evening.

What a day! The photo only hinted at the story behind a lousy evening. The girls will look back at this pic of them fighting over the picnic basket one day and laugh at the memory.
