Probably an overdone subject for this challenge (cemetaries), but rather than setup a chessboard and a generic "studio" type shot for the challenge 'Begin' I thought I'd use this. Took a short daytrip to visit this location. I wanted to see firsthand what all the fuss was regarding a new shopping center that includes a Walmart store in the general area of this NPS Battlefield Park.

I have to say after visiting this location, I cannot see any way that this shopping center will be visible from the park grounds at all. Looks like this old battleground will see another battle of sorts in the very near future.

Information about this location and grave marker posted below comes from National Park Service - Ellwood

"Ellwood's most famous internment is "Stonewall" Jackson left arm. On May 2, 1863, Jackson was wounded by the mistaken fire of his own troops at Chancellorsville. Surgeons removed the injured limb at nearby Wilderness tavern. The following day, Jackson's chaplain Beverley Tucker Lacy, carried the amputated arm across the fields and buried it in his brother's graveyard. It remains here to this day, the only marked grave in the cemetery."

As for the challenge topic of 'End' this shot brings to mind a couple of things; 1) The demise of Stonewall Jackson with the amputation of his arm and following death. 2) The loss of this important military mind for the Southern effort contributed to the eventual Northern victory.

Score prediction: 4.68 :-)

This a little dark. I really appreciate you making the effort to get this photo. If you look on the web, the marker is more erect. Could you get help to re-position the marker? In this weather, I am sure you could not do much better. I think a lower angle and fill flash might get the field and marker.

Excellent processing and brilliant composition. Very powerful message here and conveys the feeling of the "END" in a powerful way.
