A re-do of this: . Not a napping cat and much more dramatic, but a decent image with cat fur in it. FWIW.
ETA 2/4 - and now we have another Pet Portrait challenge going, so people may not want to see my cat image. That's what I get for shooting early for this one ;-) I like this too much to go shoot something else now.
BTW, this is a shelter cat, photographed in the shelter on a window ledge in our visiting room. We have a security film on the windows which tends to reflect blue; I changed the color to gold because I liked how it set off his eyes.
PP - converted from RAW, cropped, shifted blue background to gold, dodged eyes, dodged face a little, cloned out hand, 2nd layer (merged in multiply mode at 30% transparency), gradient filter to darken top and left of background some more, white balance, decreased saturation on whiskers and edges of fur and white on face, touched up brown color in places, resized, 3rd layer (USM, partially erased whiskers with worst sharpening artifacts, merged), touched up the background (mostly blur), added border. |

The only 10 I gave. Love the intensity. Great focus and textures. |

Very nice DOF. I like that you did not sharpen this alot as the true sense of soft fur is portrayed nicely here. |

Checked the original. Big improvement here.
Superb detail in this excellent portrait of this cat. Sharp as a tack. 8 |

It always helps to show the whole cat :-)
I've come back to recomment since I was looking at the wrong original shot. As a result I've also bumped up my vote. Still think it's overexposed under the eyes, and the right ear (left on screen) blends in too much to the background). |

Great shot of the cat on the prowl. Very intimidating. |
