The 3 note call of this bird gives it away in summer as it sits motionless in thick canopy foliage.
Habitat, any well treed area.
call male weet-weet-weeoo female a shrill pippippi, giving the bird its local name of piet-my-vrou

That is a stunning color on the bird! I'm guessing it's a bit of motion blur and it seems to be the most on the branch, perhaps a bit of gaussian blur would make it seem less apparent.

Blimey. You've got a book of bird shots on the way here. Lovely to look at.

Nice colors and nice looking birdie. Little blur or OOF. Is it due to hand held shot or the bird was moving?

PAW - Very pretty bird. Soft focus on the background, but the sharpening really brought out excessive noise on the branches. I did what Judi mentioned in a class, but forgot how to, so I need to brush up on it myself. Or maybe a noise reducer would help. Thanks for the lesson on Red Chested Cuckoos.

This is a cool bird. I'm wondering how you got the shot. Flash combined with slow shutter speed? I think I'm seeing camera shake on the branch, but the bird is mostly sharp.

A wee bit grainy...when sharpening...try to sharpen on a duplicate layer and mask 'out' the background for a smoother effect.

Interesting bird. Too bad you couldn't get its head in completely sharp focus, but the detail on the feathers is nice.
