Challenge: Opposites (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Homewood Cemetery
Date: May 8, 2004
Aperture: f/11
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/40
Date Uploaded: May 11, 2004

I actually wasn't shooting for the challenge, just driving around the cemetery taking photos. I suppose that it was serendipity that I noticed this tombstone just as the sun was setting. Seemed like a nice idea for this week's challenge, so I snapped a few photos of it.

I ran the photo through neat image to soften/blur it. I think it adds a more surreal feeling. I expect a score somewhere between 4.2-5.2

I like the idea but somehow feel that execution could have been better!

Very creative opposite! A lot different from the other shots. It's nice to see people thinking outside of the norm, here!

really nice idea--very original--the sun spots in the foreground distracting though

The photo is a little fuzzy. Would another angle have eliminated the glare?

I think the contrast between the bright parts and the dark parts of this picture are too great. Perhaps the light will be a bit softer when it is filtered through the trees a few minutes later (assuming this is sunset). Alternatively, some fill flash might help brighten the monuments.

That is funny, not that the person is dead, but just ironic! great job of finding that!

Good thinking to catch this shot. Good job getting the light right on the front of the tombstones as well.

You'll probably get hammered for the lens flare, but I like it this time. Really cool picture... good job.

Nice idea for this challenge. The refraction from the lens detracts somewhat--perhaps if you'd waited a few more minutes the trees would have obscured the sun enough to make this more pleasing.

Interesting play on sun and moon. bonus for creativity. I like the lens flare but I think it would have worked better if you had hid the sun a little more in the trees so that it wasn't so hot where the sun is. 6

Neat find for the challenge. I'm not crazy for the lens flair but it's okay here. Good luck. 7 from me.
