The reflections are distracting, need to bounce the flash.

I like the concept, but there's too much of a grey cast to the shot and not nearly enough color to embolden the statement enough to get it past a 4.

the lighting looks a bit strange here with a harsh shadow under the pump and no shadow at all under the hiking boot. also the lighting is very flat and the tonal ranges rather narrow. The blacks in the image should be deeper and richer to bring out the textures in your subjects.

This is a rather out of focus. It doesn't appear that a lot of thought went into this set-up. The lighting seems to be direct flash from overhead which washes out colors and details (like the creases in the boot). The background is nice and simple but the subject is very 'blah'.

Better lighting would have improved this.

Great idea, needs a little work though. Better than my shot however...

Good idea for opposites...man/woman, leisure/dressy, big/small. Possible improvements: re-orient the tongue of the boot so the label doesn't show, try a background with more interest/texture, vary the relationship of the shoes to each other to take advantage of negative space.

I get your idea, but honestly the picture is quite boring and the exposure seems off as well..

Not a bad attempt however the angel and lighting need improvement.
They fall short of making this other then 'two shoes on the floor-shot from above'. Special background/lighting (boot on it's side) a sock? or angle would help
this to stand out and give it a punch.
The quality of the shot is okay, focus--light is a little strong.
Your concept was good and your 100% on topic for the challenge. Good luck in the voting.
