As seen from the middle of Dream Lake. from left to right, Hallet's Peak, Tyndall Glacier and Flattop Mountain. This is a bracketed exposure image merged in PhotoMatix detail enhancing, an Aperture plug-in. 1/8s, 1/25s, 0.30s RAW format images processed in Apple's Aperture.
Then, the image was converted to b&w in Nik Silver Efex Pro, an Aperture plug-in. Finally, some dodging and burning in Aperture's dodge&burn plug-in.
This effort emulates Ansel Adam's darkroom dodging and burning. This is the outtake image from the AA challenge. I used the feedback from my entry to optimize this wider angle view, in the AA style. This image has more contrast, without blown out highlights and a darkened sky. I don't like this image as well. Always felt the moon was a distraction, rather than an element of interest. And, the frozen lake is not very pretty, since the snow has been sandblasted away and there are signs of the snowshoe trail.
I wished to emulate AA's "Moonrise over Hernandez" //www.pinkelephants.org/images/blog/santafe.jpg |

Was the snowshoe trail another photographer that was there before you?

This is my own personal voting scale. It's merely an huble opinion, based on whatever limited photography knowledge I have. You have all right to agree/disagree with me.

I really like the image, without the title you would not notice the moon there, great light on the image....this would have done well in the Ansel Adams challenge. |

Great shot. Reminds me of Ansel's work. Great B/w Capture. |
