So I had an all day rehearsal on Saturday and I had my camera with me. Usually I shoot the Church and its great stained glass windows. Then I thought of this challenge. So I ask the choir librarian if she could help me out. She happens to be the Bell Choir director at the church. So I asked if she might ring a couple of bells while I took some shots. She said fine so we met at lunch.

In one of the rooms where we reheased there is the console for the church's Carillon. It is rather tall from the keyboard and there was a black cover over it which we used for the background. Sandy, the bell choir director/choir librarian, was wearing a brown sweater. I thought well neutral is Ok but she wore black gloves and it was not quite working. I asked if she could put on her choir gown (she is also in the church choir as well as ours) and she agreed.

We tried this with some motion but it was not quite working. I should have brought my tripod and cable remote but did not want to be bogged down with it all day. We stopped with the motion and I had her hold the bells at opposite angles and that is the shot. Little soft on the bottom bell and the background is not pretty. Oh well. Maybe next time. Little velvet, the tripod. Different color of gloves. We'll see. The non basic edit for Sandy's bell choir website for the church will look much better.

Post: Camera Raw adjustments in PSElements 6.0. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. A few crops....it's low because the carillon keys were showing at the bottom of the black cover and I did not notice them for this shot. Many crops. Curves adjustment. Resize. USM.

A big thank you to Sandy Martin for her ringing.
