Taken at the San Diego Cat Fanciers' Cat Show in Del Mar, California. Many thanks to the anonymous owner who opened the cat's cage so I could get a better shot. You can still see shadows of the cage wires, which hopefully isn't too distracting. And hopefully this is viewed as sufficiently on-topic for the challenge.
I had mixed feelings about going to BW because the eyes were such a striking green color, but I couldn't keep the green eyes using Basic Editing rules without also keeping the colors in the bed, which I thought were too distracting.
As usual I used GIMP for post-processing: cropped, desaturated, adjusted levels, resized part-way, sharpened, resized all the way, sharpened, added border.

Merriam-Webster online dictionary:
"silent: 1 a: making no utterance : mute, speechless..."
This is admittedly not a stereotypical or cliché depiction of silence, and I anticipated my score to suffer accordingly, which it did.
But neither was it intended as a "shoehorn". Even if it doesn't evoke silence in all viewers, it nevertheless fits the definition exactly. |

| Lovely photo that worked (for me, anyway) both in B/W and for the challenge. Some voters need to be smacked between the eyes by the challenge topic... others are more open-minded. Sorry this missed the top 10, but congrats on a wonderful image! |

Excellent photo of a beautiful cat. Not quite how I imagine silence but a lovely image nonetheless.

Great shot! I like the transition from black at the top down to nearly white at the bottom (cat's paws). Nice work!

| Cute cat and very good photo I wish this was a pet challenge not sure it is silence hard one to photograph but I do so love this photo (if in pet it would be a 10) so what the heck- good photo and did anyone else photograph silence 10! |
