You're not kidding! Well, at least 1 person actually got what I was going for. I suppose that means that I wasn't very successful. Yes, I do realise that shooting f1.8 will give very little depth of field and I enjoy playing with that - I obviously wasn't able to pull it off very well.

Watch that setting of F1.8, it has almost NO depth of field at that aperture and such a close range.

This is just a little too soft for my taste, although I like the lighting on the right side of the image.

Out of focus, harsh lighting on her face

focus appears to be a bit too soft to me

Seems like a snapshot I'm afraid. The depth of field is very shallow, and the narrow range of focus does not seem to be where it needs to be. The lighting from the side is also blowing out a lot of detail on her cheek, while the rest of her face is in shadows. I don't know what your shot settings were, but I am guessing that a narrower f-stop and maybe a different direction for the lighting could have helped. Hard to know for sure without knowing details, however.

the light on her cheek is a little distracting.

Love her glasses. A touch soft for my taste. :~)
