A match put into a backlit block of ice and photographed with as the flame burns blue and white - just like the ice. A variation on the fire and water theme.

OK - my first submission and now I know the kind of competition I am up against! I rushed this entry and shouldn't have. Also, in retrospect I should have known that the fire/ice theme would be done to death. So 240th out of 291 is pretty dreadful, but I intend to do much better in future challenges. Thanks for the comments everyone :)

DOF is good. A little simplistic and not very interesting use of fire and ice.

good concept, badly done. the flash at the bottom is very distracting as well, it should have been cropped out.

Overexposed in the foreground, and not quite enough light on the match / candle to bring it out.

at first look , it didnt really look like ice, it looks more like wax, but its a nice angle

I find the flare near the bottom distracting

Lighting is dreary, foreground light patch takes the eye because its light, but is out of focus. Sorry to be brutal, but its dull.

These shots can be hard to get a good exposure! Good job all things considered. Work on your idea and redo your shot and I think you'll have a winner...

Neat. Wish this was a little crisper though, perhaps black and white?

interesting idea. the flame looks great. but the glare on the bottom ruins it for me. Perhaps a crop, or just allow the light from the candle, instead of any artificial lighting?
