Wild Mustangs live near where we go riding our ATV's - it's always a pleasure to see them and I'd bet somebody snatches this little guy up...how cute!
Well, I found out some more about the Wild Horses in Nevada: probably throughout the Southwest - every so often, the Bureau of Land Management rounds up 'X' number of horses and slaughters them. There is a huge public out-cry because of this, of course, in the favor of the horses. The BLM says it's for the horses best interest because they are starving. Well, when I see these Wild Horses, they are plenty healthy looking.
I have a friend that goes hunting, (Yes, I know many people don't agree with hunting) and he says the real reason the BLM hunts and kills the Wild Horses is because they eat all the vegetation and there is none left for the natural wild game: horses are not native American animals.
So, this is a sad situation no matter how one views it.
About the challenge: I found it totally ironic that two of the ribbon winners were photos of flies. Yes, they were awesome photos for sure! Flies carry disease and death to the living. How is that for sarcasm?!?!?!

| Brad.. this is a wonderful image and very well executed. It's a tough shot to capture and you've managed to do it extremely well. I often wonder if images like this will ever receive the attention they deserve. |
